Uncommitted, email addresses and La La Land
I plan on voting ‘uncommitted’ in the Democratic presidential primary. That seems to be a way in which many people are protesting Joe Biden’s support for Israel’s war on Gaza. Of course, I still urge everyone to vote for him in the general election.
I’m frustrated with my cultivated-meat activism. The email addresses I use to send out letters to the editor keep getting disabled. I don’t know what I’ll do next. I’m definitely feeling tired of picketing Senator Richard Blumenthal.
Maybe I should move on to Representative Jim Himes? Or perhaps I should expand my blog’s mandate and push state lawmakers for a fur ban? I don’t know. We’re going out of town at the end of this week. I’ll try to figure stuff out when I get back.
Anyway, let’s do (Cell) Culture Talk. Here’s what I’ve been watching lately.
Movie — La La Land. I know there was some backlash to this film, which I get. However, I’ve always loved the music here, the chemistry of the two leads, and the romanticization of Hollywood. It makes me want to rewatch Quentin Tarantino’s 2019 ode to Tinseltown.
TV — 3 Body Problem. A lot of reviewers said the show didn’t live up to its source material. Having never read the books, I thought the series was flawed, but interesting. The plot begins with a Chinese scientist making contact with an advanced alien civilization.
Sports — Knicks beat Pistons, 124-99. Donte DiVincenzo had a career-high 40 points, breaking New York’s record for most threes in a single game. The previous record holder, Evan Fournier, was guarding him. So that was fun.
Sports — Knicks beat Raptors, 145-101. Mitchell Robinson returned to the floor after a long absence. It sounds like he will have to earn his spot back in the starting lineup. Toronto was missing more players than New York.
Sports — Knicks lose to Spurs, 130-126. What a game! Jalen Brunson scored a career-high 61 points, but it wasn’t enough to defeat this lottery team. DiVincenzo broke New York’s record for most threes in a season.
Sports — Knicks lose to Thunder, 113-112. That was another heartbreaker. Personally, I wasn’t too torn up about it. I just want everyone to be healthy for the playoffs. I’m not sure what the ideal seeding is for New York.
