Sick kiddos, car trouble and sciatica
Despite my complaining, I actually meant to protest this past week, but sick kiddos and continued car trouble got in the way. Clearly, it’s not just our family dealing with a lot of sickness. I went to the store to pick up more children’s Motrin and it was all sold out. I got the last bottle of the generic equivalent.
I don’t know what the issue with our second car is. Part of the problem is each time we call out AAA, we’re dealing with a different person with different recommendations. I think I should probably take it to a garage. It’s just that’s a whole thing and there is never time.
I’m still dealing with a bunch of pain. It now includes my lower back. If it’s not stress, I believe it might be the result of sitting in a low-to-the-ground chair without enough support. I’m remembering I dealt with something like this before, and we thought it could be sciatica.
I sent out my Ro Khanna endorsement to California newspapers, but I haven’t seen it appear anywhere yet. I’m going to send out a letter this week highlighting Believer Meats, formerly Future Meat Technologies, breaking ground on a cultivated-meat facility in North Carolina, which the company says is the largest of its kind in the world. If you want to send your own letters, take a look at this:
Anyway, let’s do (Cell) Culture Talk. Here are some of the things I’ve been watching lately.
Sports — Knicks beat Hawks, 113-89. This was a fun win against New York nemesis Trae Young. Poor guy chose the wrong night to troll with his ‘King of Broadway’ sneakers. Julius Randle had a great game. Quentin Grimes showed why the front office put so much stock in him.
Sports — Knicks beat Hornets, 121-102. New York got a couple of wins and suddenly they’re in the playoff picture. Sure, they’ve been playing a bunch of injured teams, but injuries are part of the game, and they’ve taken advantage.
Music — Brett Dennen’s Xmas, Vol. 1 by Brett Dennen. There are only four songs here, so there’s not a lot to dig into. What I believe is an original contribution, “Christmas Train,” didn’t do much for me. “Frosty the Snowman” was probably my favorite of the covers. Overall, I was disappointed.
