Sick, email addresses, and the Knicks
I was hoping to protest this week, but my son got sick, then I got sick, and tomorrow my daughter has a physical. So I don’t think it’s going to happen.
I’m going to look into email providers that don’t require phone verification. It sounds like Proton Mail is an option, but the downside is their messages frequently get stuck in people’s spam folders.
We’ll see what progress, if any, I make on that. Right now I feel like hot garbage. Anyway, let’s do (Cell) Culture Talk. Here’s what I’ve been watching recently.
YouTube — Mr. Beast. I’m pretty late to this channel. There’s definitely a critique to be made about capitalist philanthropy with a lot of these videos. However, I can’t help but enjoy the good vibes of Jimmy Donaldson and his friends. It sort of reminds me of a nicer, more family-friendly Jackass.
YouTube — ZFG. It’s been a while since I checked in on the world of Ocarina of Time randomizers. In a recent upload, my favorite Zelda speedrunner was playing a holiday-themed version of the game, which was really cool. There was snow on the ground and many of the characters had Santa hats. I liked all the little festive details.
Sports — Knicks beat Bulls, 116-100. OG Anunoby is still settling in. I’m going to miss Immanuel Quickley and RJ Barrett, who went out in the trade for him. All the commentators I follow seem to think it was a smart consolidation move, but I worry we gave up too much offensive firepower in the deal. It didn’t bother the team last night, though!
