Letters, True Detective, and Cranky Vegan
Things aren’t looking good for protesting this week. My kids are sick. I’m not feeling so great myself. I’m probably going to send out some letters. Hopefully, my remaining email addresses won’t get disabled. If you’d like to send out your own, check this out: https://slaughterfreeamerica.substack.com/p/how-to-write-letters-to-newspapers-6eb
Anyway, let’s do (Cell) Culture Talk. Here’s what I’ve been watching recently.
TV — True Detective. I haven’t watched this anthology series since the debut season. The arctic-horror element of the most recent offering drew me in. Jodie Foster and Kali Reis star as law enforcement investigating the disappearance of eight scientists from an Alaskan research station. Only two episodes are out so far, but I’m enjoying the show.
YouTube — The Cranky Vegan. I don’t always agree with Jake Conroy, however I enjoy hearing his perspective on debates within the animal movement. His videos are sleekly produced, which helps. I’ve mentioned previously I looked up to the SHAC 7 defendants a great deal when I first became interested in animal rights.
Sports — Knicks beat Raptors, 126-100. It was an emotional game, with RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley coming back to Madison Square Garden for the first time since the trade. I wish there had been a way to keep Quickley. New York has been struggling offensively without him, even if the score here doesn’t reflect the fact.
