Letters, Reptile and preseason basketball
Typically, I don’t send out letters on weeks I protest, but I’ve been itching to use my new email lists, so here we go. Just watch, nobody will run it, haha. Anyway, I wrote about adding funds for cultivated-meat research to the farm bill. It’s time for (Cell) Culture Talk. Here’s what I’ve been watching lately:
Film — Reptile. I was surprised this movie has a measly 43-percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes. I thought it was grim, but pretty good! Benicio Del Toro stars as an ethically-compromised cop trying to solve a murder. I haven’t seen Alicia Silverstone onscreen in forever. So it was nice to see her here.
Sports — Knicks lose to Celtics, 123-110. Preseason games are basically meaningless, but this one was kind of interesting. The Knicks rested all their top players, giving minutes to people who likely won’t even make the team. Still, they managed to keep things relatively competitive with Boston’s starters, who are championship contenders.
