Email lists, Power Rangers, and Alabama Shakes
I’m starting the long and tedious process of updating my newspaper email lists, using the EIN Presswire Directory. This week I updated my lists for Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas and California. Once I finish all 50 states, I’ll post them.
In the meantime, I thought I’d reward myself with some (Cell) Culture Talk. Here’s what I’ve been reading , watching and listening to lately.
Book — A Short Unitarian History by Frederick Blount Mott. As the title suggests, this is a brief chronicle of the Christian movement that denied the Trinity. It was written in 1906 and is very polemical in tone, so I’m not sure how much of the information I can take to the bank.
Book — The Ruling Clawss by Syd Hoff. The author was a New Yorker cartoonist, who’s probably best known for the children’s title Danny and the Dinosaur. Earlier in life, under a pen name, he drew cartoons for the socialist press. Those are collected here. They’re funny, if a little didactic.
TV — Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always. I wasn’t the biggest Power Rangers fan growing up, but I was a 90s kid, so I inevitably acquired some nostalgia for the franchise. This is a Netflix special, featuring a bunch of actors from the original show. I regret to report it’s pretty bad.
Music — Boys & Girls by Alabama Shakes. This 2012 album is even better than I remember. Lead singer Brittany Howard is incredible. My musical vocabulary is fairly limited, but what a voice! I need to check out Alabama Shakes’ sophomore record and Howard’s solo debut.
