Email lists, Ahsoka, etc
Thirty-five states down, 15 more to go. Most recently, I updated my newspaper email lists for Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota and Ohio. When I’m done, I’ll post the completed lists on the blog.
Anyway, it’s time for (Cell) Culture Talk. Here’s what I’ve been watching, listening to, and reading lately.
TV — Ahsoka. Only two episodes are out so far, but this seems very promising. I’ve mentioned before I haven’t managed to get into the Star Wars cartoons. I gather a lot of the characters here are from the animated universe, however, the transition to live action is handled well enough I don’t feel I’m missing necessary information. I’m sure having watched The Clone Wars would enrich the experience, though.
Audiobook — Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling. I imagine this is Novel Writing 101, but I was impressed on this listen through with how the author sets up smaller elements of the plot that don’t come to fruition until many books and years later. For instance, I assume Rowling knew in 1998 she wanted Harry and Ginny to end up together.
Book — Hinduism in America by Jeffrey D. Long. Although he isn’t mentioned, this is a useful history that helps put my spiritual teacher, Eknath Easwaran, in a wider context. It also discusses theosophists a little bit, a group I’ve been wanting to learn more about, given their connection to the animal movement in the late 19th and early 20th century.
