Election Day, Knicks, Among Us, etc
It’s Election Day. Get out there and vote if you haven’t already. As flawed as the Democrats are, their victory is the best chance we have to advance pro-animal policies and beat back the fascist menace, which threatens all progress.
Anyway, how about some (Cell) Culture Talk? In case you’re new to the blog, that‘s a feature in which I discuss some of the things I’ve been watching and playing lately.
Movie — Downton Abbey: The Motion Picture. Tonally, this seemed a little different than the show. The whole plot line with the downstairs staff locking the royal staff in their rooms so they could serve the king seemed sillier and less realistic than what had come before, but I still enjoyed it.
Sports — Knicks beat the Timberwolves, 120-107. This was fun. New York was up by 20 points for most of the game, burying Minnesota in three pointers. Julius Randle, who is coming off a rough season, looked like the guy he was when he won the Most Improved Player award. I doubt it will last, but it was nice to see.
Game — Among Us. Basically, it’s like Mafia. One player is a killer and the other players needs to identify him or her before they’re killed off. According to Wikipedia, the game was also inspired by John Carpenter’s The Thing. It’s not serious though. The playable characters look like minions from the Despicable Me films.
