Companion, The Last of Us and playoff basketball
My email addresses keep getting disabled for spamming. I’m hoping to start picketing again soon, but it might not be possible. We’ll see. Anyway, let’s do (Cell) Culture Talk. Here’s what I’ve been watching and reading lately.
Movie — One of Them Days. It’s an entertaining buddy comedy, directed by Lawrence Lamont, about two roommates who must go to extreme lengths to avoid being evicted, after their rent money is stolen. Keke Palmer and SZA play the lead roles.
Movie — Companion. Sophie Thatcher stars as a human-appearing robot, designed to serve as a romantic partner to Jack Quaid’s scheming villain, who rebels against her programming. Drew Hancock directed the fun horror film.
TV — The Last of Us. I haven’t played the second game in the post-apocalyptic series this is based on, but I have a general idea of the plot. Bella Ramsey and Pedro Pascal return for the adaptation’s sophomore season. It’s very good so far.
Sports — Knicks beat Pistons, 123-112. Detroit was more competitive than I expected. They were leading, however New York took control in the fourth quarter, scoring 21 unanswered points. Jalen Brunson finished with 34, after a rough start.
Meditation passage — There is But One God by Guru Nanak. The author, who lived from 1469 to 1539, was the founder of Sikhism. According to the Blue Mountain Center of Meditation website, he is also revered by Hindus and Sufi Muslims.
