Columns, Overlord and randomizer progress
I already sent the Jim Himes column to my Connecticut list. I’ll likely send the Casablanca one out this week. I’ve had some issues with my email addresses getting disabled for spamming. If you’d like to submit your own writing, take a look at this: https://slaughterfreeamerica.substack.com/p/how-to-write-letters-to-newspapers-6eb
Anyway, it’s time for (Cell) Culture Talk. Here’s what I’ve been watching and playing recently.
Movie — Overlord. It’s a fun action-horror flick, directed by Julius Avery, about a group of American paratroopers who discover Nazi scientists trying to create a zombie army. Jovan Adepo, Mathilde Ollivier, and Wyatt Russell lead the cast. The film is reminiscent of the Wolfenstein video game series.
Game — Ocarina of Time Randomizer. I decided to look up the spoiler log for my seed, because I couldn’t find some important items for the life of me. I thought there might be some necessary sequence breaking I wasn’t aware of, but, nope, I just missed a couple of business scrubs and treasure chests. Onwards!
Sports — Knicks lose to Warriors, 114-102. Karl-Anthony Towns was out due to personal reasons. OG Anunoby scored 29 points, but it wasn’t enough to defeat Golden State, an improved team since acquiring Jimmy Butler. It was good to see former New York draft pick Kevin Knox. Last I’d heard, he was out of the league.
Sports — Knicks lose to Lakers, 113-109. That was an overtime heartbreaker. Los Angeles has been discussed as a potential title team after trading for Luka Dončić. Towns was back. The headline here, though, was Jalen Brunson leaving the game with an ankle injury. He played phenomenally, scoring 39 points.
Sports — Knicks lose to Clippers, 105-95. New York struggled with Brunson out. I’m open to the franchise trading just about anyone in the off-season, aside from him, and maybe Josh Hart for chemistry’s sake. Mitchell Robinson rested on the second night of a back to back, as he continues to play himself into shape.
Sports — Knicks beat Kings, 133-104. That’s more like it. New York hasn’t offered a dominant performance like this in a while. Towns led the whole-team effort with 26 points. Anunoby was close behind with 24. Coach Tom Thibodeau probably could have emptied his bench a little earlier in the fourth quarter.
