Columns, OoTR and Roy Hurd
I’m going to send out that South Korea column next. If you’d like to submit your own writing, please take advantage of these newspaper email lists: https://slaughterfreeamerica.substack.com/p/how-to-write-letters-to-newspapers-6eb
Anyway, it’s time for (Cell) Culture Talk. Here’s what I’ve been playing, listening to and watching lately.
Game — Ocarina of Time Randomizer. I figured out pretty quickly turning off the ‘easy’ presets or something else messed with my vegan run, but I didn’t realize the full extent of the issue until I got stuck late in the seed and had to look up the spoiler log.
Music — As Real as It Gets by Roy Hurd. I grew up singing Adirondack Blue in summer camp and have since sung it as a lullaby, in my off-key way, to all of my children. I’m terrible with lyrics and rarely remember more than the chorus. Still, I love the song.
Sports — Knicks beat 76ers, 105-91. Philadelphia’s season has been completely derailed by injuries. They’ve actually had the most different starting lineups in league history. OG Anunoby continued his run of excellent play, scoring 27 points.
Sports — Knicks lose to Cavaliers, 124-105. It was the second night of a back to back and New York was missing important players. That said, it remains telling the Knicks can’t stay competitive with, let alone defeat, the top teams in either conference.
Sports — Knicks beat Hawks, 121-105. This was more of a blowout than the final score suggests. Karl-Anthony Towns led the way with 30 points. Cam Payne returned as Tom Thibodeau became the fourth most winningest coach in New York history.
Sports — Knicks beat Suns, 112-98. Jalen Brunson and Deuce McBride came back from injury. Anunoby put up 32 points. Shout out to the Madison Square Garden organist, who has been playing snippets of the Severance theme song recently.
