Childcare, email lists, and Harry Potter
I don’t think we’re going to have the childcare for me to protest this week. I’m hoping once school starts I’ll be able to get into a more consistent routine.
I’m continuing to update my newspaper email lists. Recently, I worked on Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida and Georgia. Once I’ve finished updating all 50 states, I’ll post them.
Anyway, it’s time for (Cell) Culture Talk. Here’s what I’ve been listening to and watching lately.
Audiobook — Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. JK Rowling’s transphobic fixation is baffling and sad to me. Still, I’ve wanted to reread her fantasy novels for a while. I’ve mentioned before my parents worked at a boarding school, where we lived. Some of my favorite moments in the series are when Harry stays at Hogwarts over the holidays and has the run of the place. It reminds me of my childhood.
Podcast — Mugglecast. I used to listen to this show a lot in college. Despite checking in occasionally over the years, I’m kind of shocked to see the podcast is still going. The core hosts seem to all remain. It’s sort of like hearing from old friends.
Movie — Ronin. I’m not sure I followed all the plot twists, but the 1998 film is an exciting action thriller with a stacked cast. Robert De Niro stars as a mercenary assigned with retrieving a mysterious briefcase.
