Burnout and culture talk
I’m feeling pretty burned out with protesting Senator Richard Blumenthal. It just seems pointless right now. I’m considering three things:
1. Moving on to protest Representative Jim Himes
2. Focusing on letters to the editor
3. Taking a break from the blog to write some kind of book
I’m not sure which one I want to do. I was hoping the 2023 farm bill would include more funding for cultivated-meat research, Blumenthal would vote for it, and I could declare a kind-of victory that way. However, Congress isn’t making a lot of progress on the farm bill.
Inertia might keep me on my current path, but I wanted to be honest about where I am. Anyway, let’s finish up with (Cell) Culture Talk. Here’s what I’ve been watching lately.
Movie — Cop Land. This is a fun 1997 crime thriller I hadn’t seen before. The cast is absolutely stacked. Sylvester Stallone, Harvey Keitel, Ray Liotta and Robert De Niro get top billing, but half of The Sopranos actors play minor characters in the film.
TV — Upload. There was a little more humor at the expense of food technology than I’d like in season three, however I still love this show. Andy Allo is so charming. I wish she got more work.
Sports — Knicks beat Hornets, 129-107. That was a dominant performance by New York. It was welcome, since our starters got some rest down the stretch in anticipation of a back-to-back against Boston tonight.
