Apparently, the police know my name
It was a weird morning. I arrived outside Senator Richard Blumenthal’s Hartford office and there were two police cars and three police motorcycles parked across the street. I had barely unfolded my sign when one of the officers greeted me by name. I was a little surprised, but waved and did my regular thing.
Maybe I walked back and forth more frequently, so they couldn’t charge me with some loitering nonsense. But towards the end of my time, curiosity got the better of me, and I crossed the street and asked them what they were doing and how they knew my name. One officer said they were doing seat belt checks and recognized me from the news.
I guess I’m a little skeptical of this, because there was a lot more traffic going into the senator’s parking garage than usual and, as far as I’m aware, a single newspaper chain ran an article about me almost a year ago. So that was odd. Perhaps Blumenthal was making an in-person visit to the Hartford office? I really have no idea.
